Musicals and Plays That Matter To Me
My wife introduced me to The Rocky Horror Picture Show back in high school, and it quickly became a massive part of our lives. For years, we hosted annual home screenings complete with full prop bags, callback lines, and floor-covering chaos, and I’ve even been fortunate enough to see it live on Broadway twice. Naturally, any time I’m at an event with a DJ, I make it my personal mission to get them to play "Time Warp."
A few years back, I was hanging out with some of my daughter Kira’s friends from Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts while they were volunteering at a local street fair. Out of nowhere, one of the kids ran up to me and shouted, "Mister Mike! Kira said to come get you so you can dance with us!"
I looked at her and said, "Cara, you’ve basically been a part of our family for ten years now... what on earth makes you think I have any interest in dancing?"
She didn't skip a beat: "They’re about to play 'Time Warp.'"
"Yep. That’ll do it!"
Every single time. It’s just a jump to the left... and LET’S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN!
